BUCKEYES MASCOT HAS BEEN ROAMING THE SIDELINES SINCE 1965
On September 3, 2005, Ohio State celebrated the 40 Birthday of Brutus Buckeye. Our own Ohio State University Alumni Club of Phoenix president, Dave Hocevar was in Columbus for the celebration. As the 2nd Brutus Buckeye, way back in 1968 and 1969, he was there with 13 other former Brutus to take part in the celebration on the field between the 1st and 2nd quarters. The pictures of the three Brutus Buckeyes below show the transformation that Brutus has experienced over the years. Dave carried the original Brutus, dated 1965 below. It weighed in at a hefty 40 pounds and had very little visibility. The eyebrows did move. Dave was honored to be the Brutus for the National Championship game at the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day, 1969. He remained the ONLY National Championship Brutus until OSU came out to the Fiesta Bowl in 2002 and once again became National Champions.
Congratulations to all the Brutus Buckeyes over the years!
